Hi, I am the Minister of Media at the First Baptist Church in Temple, Texas. I have been married for 18 years to a great woman named Eula. Most of my work at the church is in television production and video editing. I also like to play with computers and I have 4 computers networked together at my home. First Baptist Church has a web page up at www.vvm.com/~fbct/home.html if anyone would like to view it.

My Health

I have ankylosing spondylitis, which is a spinal disease where your spine fuses together. From this disease I have gotten another disease called pulmonary fibrosis, a lung disease that makes your lungs "hard" and air can't get in or out. I also have giant blisters at the top of my lungs, called Giant Bleb Disease. For the past 4 years I have had CHF. I had a heart attack in June of 2000 that almost got me.
I had bypass surgery done and I am still trying to get over it. My HDL (good cholesterol) was down to 10 and my EF was 42%. When they went in to do my heart bypass they found that they could not do the bypass because one of the blebs kept getting in the way. They had to staple a big patch over the bleb before they could do the bypass on my left main coronary artery.
Two weeks ago I had to go to the ER and was put into ICU. Now I have atelectasis and bronchiectasis, which is the collapse of part or all of a lung by blockage of the larger or smaller air passages (bronchus or bronchioles). I have to use oxygen at night when I sleep and sometimes during the day, at times. I did put in about 60 to 70 hours a week at work but now I have to cut it down to around 20 to 30 hours a week. It is looking like I may have to give it up all together but I keep on pushing myself as far as I can.
The doctors say that I should give it up and take it easy but the Lord's work must go on. When the Lord tells me to quit, I will. I want everyone at Jon's Place to know that I am praying for each and every one of you daily. God bless each and every one of you and those who take care of us CHFers too.
