I'm a 32 year old woman who is divorced for 3 years now and living in a very nice section of Syracuse where I lived most of my life, with my dog Tuffy; a red haired Cocker Spaniel whom I love very much and is my rock of support.
In October of 1997, I moved from Washington State back to Syracuse after 8 years. I was working until June of 1998, when I began to have shortness of breath and for the whole month of June suffered along the best I could. The doctor I saw in the beginning for this told me it was just bronchitis and gave me antibioticsk to no avail. It worsened and by the end of the month and working 70 hours a week, I couldn't take it and went back to the doctor, only to be misdiagnosed again with asthma and put on an albuterol puffer which made me nuts and wired for 3 days straight. I couldn't sleep for these 3 days and by the time I got through working a 15 hour shift at work, I was in serious trouble with my breathing.
I woke up my roommate at 4 AM on June 27th and called 911. After a lung scan, numerous blood tests and a chest x-ray, they finally diagnosed me with CHF. I was immediately, put in a CCU bed in the ER and Lasix was administered. It was the scariest morning of my life. The doctor on staff in the ER said if I had gone into work, that by 9 AM I would have been dead. If that doesn't scare you, nothing will. The cardiologist diagnosed even further to say I have DCM. After numerous echos and a cath, this was confirmed. I had an enlarged heart that my doctor had missed and a virus of some sort hit my heart and caused CHF.

I pray to God that I am able to be here to tell my story and that for some reason I wasn't chosen for a reason; a reason I don't know and maybe I never will, but then maybe this is it. All I do know is that I'm glad I'm still here and breathing. I have a lot to do and hope that God will guide me in my efforts to accomplish what I set out to do.
I love playing with my dog Tuffy, using the computer and playing on my play station. I also love to chat on the Web.
